Encouraging language

2 much yet, a- doesn't say although she's great at using gestures to tell us what she wants. Here's what we've been doing to encourage speech, based on all the tips I've been picking up: DD Quickly responding to α her vocalizations with imitation/encouragement/ labeling (<5 seconds) ex: "Ba!" "Bubble!" 2017-05-06b Teaching animal sounds while looking at books/toys/animals: Cat says "meow!" Offer choices & wait at least 10 seconds. for A-'s response " Book? or bubbles?" Go to early years Centres so a- can hear other kids OEYC, JFRC... Labeling with simple Offer her something she words: 'Box!" ве & Likes & wants more of. "Cheese!"
